Thanks to the evidence base of the Security Service, Russian propagandist Sergei Lebedev, who directed Russian missile strikes on Ukrainian cities, was sentenced to imprisonment in absentia. This was reported by UNN with reference to the SBU.
Details
According to the investigation, the agent was performing FSB tasks in several areas:
- The first is gathering intelligence on the defense forces and adjusting Russian air attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
- At the same time, Lebedev took an active part in preparing paid-for stories for Kremlin TV channels. There he spread fakes about the Defense Forces and the situation at the front.
Investigators found out that Lebedev used to engage informants whom he found on his own Telegram channel with a total audience of more than 30 thousand subscribers.
Thus, at the suggestion of one of the users of the Internet resource, "Shaggy" adjusted the attack with Russian S-300 missiles on a high-rise building in Mykolaiv in the fall of 2022.
The traitor also engaged a resident of Zakarpattia to cooperate, who "leaked" the locations of military units in the border region to the agent.
Based on the evidence collected by the Security Service investigators, the court found Lebedev guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). Based on SBU materials, the court sentenced Lebedev to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property
Addendum
It is noted that the man works for the FSB as a "freelance military correspondent" for the Moscow news agency RIA Novosti and is hiding from justice in the temporarily occupied Donetsk.
In this regard, the trial took place in a special court proceeding in absentia (in the absence of the accused). The SBU also added that the sentence will be calculated from the date of the traitor's actual detention.
