One of the drones during Russia's nighttime drone attack struck a vessel belonging to China, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported, emphasizing the need for domestic anti-ballistic capabilities and the strengthening of air defense, while announcing work with partners on this matter this week, UNN reports.
The Russian attack on Dnipro and the region lasted over 6 hours tonight. A missile strike damaged a high-rise building, and there is significant destruction of other civilian infrastructure. In the region, the energy sector and residential buildings were under attack. There were drone hits in Odesa, and one of the drones struck a vessel belonging to China. The Russians could not have failed to know which vessel was at sea. In total, there was destruction in eight regions, and as of now, dozens of wounded are reported across the country, including children
In total, as the President noted, the Russians used 524 strike drones and 22 missiles of various types—ballistic and cruise—in this strike. "In many border and frontline communities, the alert continues, but everywhere the security situation allows, our services are working," he added.
"Russia relies on ballistics to strike people, and that is why we must do everything in Europe to ensure there is reliable protection against this. Europe must have its own anti-ballistic systems and be self-sufficient against these threats. We repeat once again: we need our own anti-ballistics and the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense right now. This week involves work with partners to enhance the protection of lives. I thank everyone who is already working on this together with Ukraine," Zelenskyy emphasized.
