On July 24, Russian troops struck one of the Ukrainian training grounds where a weapons exhibition, which had been publicly announced, was taking place at the time. According to him, the Russian attack was likely specifically aimed at the event.
"I don't think I can tell everything now, but it was a very serious strike on one of the training grounds where a weapons exhibition was taking place. Official statements will come later. Most likely, the strike was aimed specifically at this event," Borovyk said.
According to preliminary information, the exhibition was publicly announced online, and information about its holding was publicly available.
Advisor to the President of Ukraine on the development of technological defense areas Serhiy Beskrestnov (Flash), who may also have been at the event, reported that he was not injured.
"Friends, thank you, I am fine. The team is alive," he wrote.
The Ukrainian Arms Council also issued a statement. They confirmed that the strike was carried out on a location where representatives of the Ukrainian defense industry were present, and called for not spreading information that could harm the investigation or the Defense Forces.
"Information about the exact location of the participants was not publicly disseminated. The circumstances of the strike are being established by the competent authorities. We ask you to refrain from spreading photos and videos from the scene, geolocation, information about the victims, companies, and other details that could harm people, the work of the Defense Forces, or the investigation," the statement reads.
The organization also noted that they were not the organizers of the event, but are in contact with colleagues and providing necessary support.
Official information regarding the number of dead, wounded, and the circumstances of the Russian strike is being clarified.
