Russian dictator Vladimir Putin understands that he will not be able to fully occupy Ukraine. At the same time, he sometimes shares messages with Ukraine's foreign partners that do not correspond to his true thoughts. Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this in an interview for The Rest Is Politics podcast, UNN reports.
Details
He has huge losses and not enough well-trained people on the battlefield. He is trying to find a way out of the situation that would look like a victory. That is why he is trying to push us out of Donbas diplomatically - through dialogue with the United States
The President of Ukraine added: for the full occupation of Donbas, the Russians would have to sacrifice from 300,000 to 1 million people - depending on how many years they planned this operation. However, according to Zelenskyy, this is a huge price even for Putin.
Recall
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated the injustice of the Budapest Memorandum due to the lack of guarantees. He noted: NATO membership is the least that Ukrainian leaders should have received in exchange for abandoning their nuclear arsenal in the 1990s. Instead, Ukraine received nothing.
Also, the President of Ukraine commented on the decision of the Russians to restrict the work of the Telegram messenger, and later - to completely close it. Zelenskyy believes that the restriction of the messenger's work is related to the Russians' preparation for unpopular decisions. This could be an escalation or the end of the war.
