Putin has authorized Russian troops to invade other countries over foreign court rulings. The NSDC has called this preparation for future armed interventions.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has signed a law expanding his right to deploy troops in other countries under the pretext of "protecting Russians" from criminal or judicial prosecution. UNN reports on what this means, citing the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

Details

As the Center noted, from now on, the arrest of a Russian citizen by a foreign or international court that Moscow does not recognize is an official ground for deploying Russian troops in other countries. In practice, this could lead to wars similar to those Russia waged in Moldova and Georgia, and is currently waging against Ukraine.

And although it is most likely that this norm will remain non-functional and will serve as a tool for psychological pressure to protect its sanction-evasion schemes, it remains dangerous, the Center noted.

"It may indicate Russia's legal preparation for future military invasions. Russia is building a universal legislative justification for armed intervention against any sovereign state,"
