On Thursday, May 21, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv will select a preventive measure for the police officers whose premises were searched the day before and where a significant amount of money was seized. This is reported by UNN.
Details
The court hearing in the case is scheduled to begin at 1:30 PM.
The day before, searches were conducted at three regional police departments.
The SBU and the National Police detained top officials in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr regions. They are suspected of providing cover for a network of porn offices.
According to the SBU, for various amounts of illegal benefits, the officials guaranteed their "protégés" immunity from prosecution for distributing prohibited content.
As part of the pre-trial investigation, law enforcement officers detained: the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police (GUNP) in the Ivano-Frankivsk region; the deputy head of the GUNP in the Ivano-Frankivsk region; the first deputy head of the GUNP in the Ternopil region; the deputy head of the GUNP in the Zhytomyr region; and a driver from the motor depot of the State Institution "Service Center for Ministry of Internal Affairs Units," who, according to investigators, acted as a mediator.
Recall
A large-scale operation to expose corruption within the National Police system was conducted in Ukraine. A scheme to cover up "porn offices" in three regions was uncovered, as reported by Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.
According to the investigation, the leadership of territorial police units in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr regions allegedly ensured the unhindered operation of a network of so-called "porn offices."
