Russian troops have made progress in eastern Ukraine because Kyiv's allies are limiting the use of weapons supplied by the West, and Ukrainian forces are still awaiting weapons supplies from abroad. This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview with French media, in particular AFP, UNN reports.
"A serious challenge is that we cannot use all the necessary weapons to stop this enemy," he said, adding that Ukraine is waiting for fresh weapons to equip reserve brigades.
"If you use the weapons of our partners, they can say that we will no longer help you, it is a risk," he said.
Zelenskiy said Kyiv is "working very hard" to get permission to strike targets deep in Russian territory with Western weapons.
"Unfortunately, our partners are still afraid of this," he added.
"We are no longer hiding the fact that we were preparing 14 brigades. Do you think it's possible to stop them if only three of the 14 are equipped?" he added, explaining how Russia has managed to seize a number of villages in eastern Donetsk region in recent months.
