Details

As noted by the European Commission, Poland received the first tranche of 6.6 billion euros under the defense financing mechanism "Security Initiative for Europe" (SAFE), which represents 15% of the total 43.7 billion euros allocated to it. They added that Poland is the largest recipient of SAFE funding and the first member state to receive a payment under this mechanism.

The pre-financing will help Poland accelerate priority defense investments, strengthen resilience, and modernize its military capabilities in line with common European goals. SAFE is designed to ensure rapid, coordinated action, improve the interoperability of European armed forces, and strengthen the European defense industry
