During the construction of a protected command post for one of the AFU military units, the state suffered over 2.7 million UAH in damages due to the overstatement of the cost and volume of work. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.
Details
The case concerns the construction of a defense facility carried out under a state contract with the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to the investigation, in 2021, the Ministry of Defense signed a contract with a contracting organization and appointed a technical supervision engineer to monitor the quality and volume of work performed and to prevent cost overruns.
The prosecutor's office noted that in June 2023, the contractor entered false information into the certificates of completion.
In particular, the volume and cost of work were overstated, and some work and materials were accounted for twice. Also, according to the investigation, the cost of certain construction materials and works was inflated.
Despite the obligation to verify the compliance of documentation with the work actually performed, the technical supervision engineer, according to the investigation, failed to exercise proper control and signed the relevant certificates.
As a result, damages to state interests amounted to over 2.7 million UAH
The Specialized Defense Prosecutor's Office of the Central Region notified the engineer of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – official negligence that caused grave consequences.
