In Bila Tserkva, a man came to a car dealership and got behind the wheel of an SUV, after which he threatened to use explosives and stated his intention to do so. Law enforcement officers detained the man; he faces up to six years in prison. The Kyiv Region Main Directorate of the National Police reports this, UNN reports.
"In the city of Bila Tserkva, at one of the official car centers, the suspect stated his intention to use an explosive device inside the premises. He faces up to six years in prison. The car dealership’s director notified law enforcement officers of the incident," the statement said.
It was established that the 52-year-old man came to the car dealership and got behind the wheel of an SUV. The perpetrator threatened to use explosives and stated his intention to do so. Patrol police officers evacuated people, detained the suspect, and handed him over to officers of the Bila Tserkva District Police Department.
Following an inspection by canine units, no explosive devices were found.
"The man was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility. Investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor’s Office, notified the perpetrator that he was suspected of knowingly making a false report about preparations for an explosion and other actions threatening the death of people or other serious consequences (Part 1 of Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation is ongoing," the police added.
