American billionaire Elon Musk believes that the scenario of a complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied territories of Ukraine is currently unrealistic, and ending the war requires a pragmatic approach. He stated this in an interview with The Economist, reports UNN.

According to Musk, the front line has remained almost unchanged over the past two to three years, while the war continues to claim a large number of human lives.
"Russia is not going to withdraw its troops. So it is truly necessary to reach some mutually acceptable peace solution based on such an approach," he said.
Musk noted that many politicians are wishful thinking when they talk about a complete withdrawal of Russian troops, although, in his opinion, such a scenario does not correspond to reality. He emphasized that it is necessary to find a path to ending the war.
"I think there is a lot of wishful thinking here when people say that Russia must completely withdraw its troops and so on, but that is unrealistic. I really believe that some, you know, pragmatic approach is needed,"
"It's not about being pro-Russian – it's simple pragmatics. Otherwise, people will continue to die for years without any result. That is exactly what is happening. Another three years of senseless deaths at the front would be truly terrible. How can you explain that to the children of the men who died there?" – Musk said.
He also sharply criticized international diplomats who, in his words, make loud statements about the war while being far from the combat zone.
"I am very outraged by these sophisticated diplomats who enjoy lavish dinners and instructively declare that Russia must retreat, while being far from the conflict itself," the businessman noted.
At the same time, Musk emphasized that his position should not be interpreted as support for Moscow. He recalled that the Starlink satellite communication system, created by SpaceX, played an important role in providing communication for Ukraine after the start of the full-scale invasion. In his opinion, achieving peace will ultimately require compromises, including territorial ones.
