"I spoke with President Zelenskyy the day after Russia's double daytime airstrike on a shopping center in Kryvyi Rih, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties. I expressed our horror and deep sorrow," Macron wrote on X.
He noted that "with these strikes and this week's strikes on Kyiv, russia continues and escalates its aggression. By systematically attacking civilians and choosing intimidation and escalation, russia is likely seeking to project strength, but above all it is demonstrating its weakness."
In this context, it is critically important to provide Ukraine with all the resources necessary to defend its airspace and prevent this aggression. I informed President Zelenskyy about the strengthening of our support, the dispatch of interceptor missiles, and the continuation of our cooperation in accordance with the inaugural meeting of the Air Defense Coalition, held in Paris on July 13, and the declaration of intent signed on November 17, 2025. It is critically important that all countries with available resources also join these efforts
According to him, "we must also continue to increase pressure on russia as long as it chooses to reject a ceasefire and peace."
"We also reviewed, in anticipation of the meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, which will take place this Monday, our mobilization to achieve the peace that the Ukrainian people legitimately seek, with respect for their rights and with all the necessary security guarantees for Ukraine and our continent," Macron said.
