The "inauguration" ceremony took place in the Hall of Ceremonies - the largest in the Palace of Independence in Minsk. Placing his right hand on the country's Constitution, Lukashenko took the oath in Belarusian.
Then Lukashenko was presented with the certificate of the President of Belarus.
Lukashenko has been the de facto ruler of Belarus since July 20, 1994. He served as president after the elections of 2001, 2006, 2010, 2015, 2020 and 2025.

On January 26, 2025, the so-called "presidential elections" were held in Belarus, the result of which, as noted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, was known in advance from the beginning of the election campaign.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine pointed out that it is difficult to call such elections fair, transparent and democratic, in particular in view of the political repressions in Belarus, which deprived voters of any alternative choice, and turned the elections themselves into a political show of one person.
Elections held in conditions of complete administrative control and political persecution, lack of real political competition, suppression of freedom of speech and lack of media not controlled by the authorities, as noted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, cannot be legitimate. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that "this is a farce".
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine fully shares and joined the assessments of the EU External Action Service regarding the results of this "action" and expressed its support for those Belarusians who continue to fight for democratic changes in their country, its independence, preservation of their national dignity and identity.
