A 20-year-old Kyiv resident is suspected of defrauding the daughter of a fallen soldier of 700,000 UAH. He met her online and gained access to her bank accounts under the guise of investing in cryptocurrency. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN.
Details
The investigation established that the young man began communicating with a 20-year-old girl from Odesa through a dating bot and, after some time, offered to help her earn money through cryptocurrency.
To do this, he requested access to her online banking, assuring her that she was only providing passwords for a card with no funds. In reality, the young man gained access to all her cards and saw that there were significant sums in the account. The girl had received state payments following the death of her father.
Initially, the new acquaintance withdrew 6,000 UAH daily from her card at supermarket checkouts, and later began spending larger amounts to purchase cryptocurrency and transferring money to third-party cards.
In this manner, the young man withdrew 700,000 UAH from the account of the fallen soldier's daughter and subsequently closed her account entirely,
Notably, the girl had never met the young man in person, and the photos he sent were actually of another person. This was discovered during the investigation.
Under the procedural guidance of the Sviatoshyn District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, the 20-year-old Kyiv resident has been notified of suspicion of fraud.
