According to the police, on April 13, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was found dead in a rented apartment in Uzhhorod. Initially, the circumstances indicated a natural death. However, during further investigation, police officers established a Russian trace in this case.
"Working through the deceased's last contacts, operatives managed to find out that at the time of death, a 26-year-old native of Zaporizhzhia was in the apartment with the victim. According to her, they had been relaxing together with the serviceman the day before, and he probably died due to excessive alcohol consumption," the police said.
This version, as reported, was "refuted by the results of operational measures" by the police.
Law enforcement officers found out that "the woman acted under the clear guidance of a curator from the Russian Federation." "Approximately a month ago, the woman was recruited by Russian special services. The latter used the perpetrator's data and created an account on a dating site. It was there that they found the victim serviceman, conversed with him, and arranged a meeting. Subsequently, the recruited woman contacted the serviceman independently," the police noted.
"During the meeting in the rented apartment, the woman put a pre-prepared substance into the serviceman's drink, after consuming which he died a few hours later. The woman informed the curator about the man's condition and, following his instructions, tried to cover up the traces of the crime - she destroyed the container with the remnants of the substance and, waiting until morning, called an ambulance," the police reported.
The suspect, as indicated, was detained on the same day. All collected materials were handed over by investigators to the SBU. The actions of the detainee are qualified under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. She faces 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
