On Tuesday, April 14, a part of a 19th-century architectural monument - Tarakaniv Fort - collapsed in the Dubno district of Rivne region. This was reported by UNN with reference to Andriy Shvachko, a lecturer at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.

The Dubno Fort outpost (also known as Tarakaniv Fort, Dubno Fort, New Dubno Fortress) was built between 1873 and 1890. It was built as an outpost on the border between the Russian and Austro-Hungarian empires.
The main ideologist of the construction of a number of fortified areas was the hero of the defense of Sevastopol during the Crimean War of 1853-1856, military engineer-fortifier Adjutant General Eduard Totleben.
In the summer of 1916, during the Brusilov Offensive of the First World War, Russian troops dislodged units of the 4th Austrian Army from these fortifications. 200 Austrian soldiers died in these battles and are buried near the fort.
Currently, this object is on the balance sheet of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
