In Kyiv, fraudsters defrauded an elderly woman of more than 380 thousand hryvnias by asking for money “for an operation” for her daughter in Germany. This was reported by the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, according to UNN.

According to the investigation, the 73-year-old woman received a call from unknown people who introduced themselves as doctors, and said that her daughter was involved in an accident. Pseudo-doctors said that the" daughter " needs an urgent operation, which is carried out only in Germany.
Believing in this story, the pensioner gave the woman who came for money all her savings in hryvnias, dollars and euros – in total, more than 380 thousand hryvnias. Only after that, the victim called her relatives and realized that she had been deceived,
One of the scammers, a 34-year-old native of the Rivne region, has already been detained in Zhytomyr. 60 thousand hryvnias were seized from her, which were transferred to the victim.
The defendant said that she took money from the pensioner on the instructions of an unknown person who offered her such a job. She allegedly transferred the money received to the customer's account.
The woman was informed of suspicion on the fact of fraud committed by prior agreement by a group of persons, under martial law, on a large scale (Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Now the police are looking for accomplices of the woman, and she herself was given a preventive measure in the form of detention. If the court finds the defendant guilty, she faces 8 years in prison.
