Government allocates UAH 2.7 billion to restore a number of settlements in frontline regions

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to allocate UAH 2.7 billion for the restoration of frontline towns in four regions. The funds will be used for the comprehensive reconstruction of communities to return people and develop the local economy.

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to allocate UAH 2.7 billion to restore frontline towns in Chernihiv, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions. According to UNN, this was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal at a government meeting.

At the last meeting in Chernihiv region, he instructed the Ministry of Infrastructure to immediately work on the issue of allocating UAH 2.7 billion for a pilot project to restore a number of settlements in the frontline regions

- Shmyhal said.

He said that these are, in particular, Yahidne in Chernihiv Oblast, Posad-Pokrovske in Kherson Oblast, Tsyrkuny in Kharkiv Oblast, and Trostyanets in Sumy Oblast.

Today, we are already making a direct decision to allocate these funds, which will accelerate the comprehensive reconstruction of these communities to return people and develop the local economy as soon as possible. By another resolution, we engage RMA as construction customers in the implementation of pilot projects

- He added.

According to the Prime Minister, today the government will update the State Regional Development Strategy for 2021-2027.

We are updating it, taking into account the challenges of the war and the recommendations of the European Union. We set ourselves a number of ambitious goals

In particular:

  • create conditions for Ukrainians to return home; restore and develop infrastructure
  • integrate our defenders into the society of communities; increase the institutional and financial capacity of local governments; synchronize regional development policies and other sectoral policies.

He added that the regions will prepare their own strategic documents based on the updated Strategy. The government and the relevant ministry will provide maximum assistance.

Residents of the frontline areas can now receive compensation for destroyed housing under the eRestoration program. Commissions of local governments in communities in the area of active hostilities have been given the opportunity to consider applications from citizens whose housing was destroyed due to russian aggression.
