German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock is skeptical of the NATO Secretary General's five-year plan for Ukraine. She said this on the air of the German public radio Deutschlandfunk, reports UNN.

Details

German Foreign Minister Annalena Burbock on Thursday expressed skepticism about North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg's plan to create a five-year, 100 billion euro fund to help Ukraine withstand a Russian offensive.

I remind you that we have different funding mechanisms

- she said.

She also said that there is a lot of overlap between the 32 NATO countries and the 27 EU countries. For example, the EU already has "a big pot of support for NATO". It is therefore important that structures are not duplicated.

Burbock also added that Europeans should contribute more to our defense and strengthen the European component of NATO. She called NATO the central anchor of Europe's security, which should remain so regardless of the outcome of the US elections in the fall.

Recall

NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg has put forward the idea of creating a fundto make assistance to Ukraine more long-term and reliable - even if US support decreases.
