Republican Congressman Joe Wilson has invited Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump, UNN reports.
"It is with sincere gratitude that I invite President Salome Zurabishvili, the only legitimate leader of Georgia, to attend the inauguration of Donald Trump. I deeply admire her courage in the face of attacks from Ivanishvili and his allies in the CCP (Communist Party of China - ed.) and the Iranian regime," Wilson wrote on social media.
The inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump will take place on January 20, 2025 in Washington, DC.
Formally, Salome Zurabishvili's term of office will end on December 29, after the inauguration of Mikheil Kavelashvili. He was elected as the sixth president of the country by the members of the Georgian Dream. So far, Kavelashvili has not received congratulations on his election from the United States and European countries.
Zurabishvili refuses to resign until new parliamentary elections are scheduled in Georgia.
Currently, relations between Georgia and the United States are at a low point. Washington has imposed sanctions on members of the Georgian Dream government, party leaders, and those associated with them, accusing them of undermining democracy, violating human rights, and tilting toward Russia.
The GM has repeatedly expressed confidence that after Trump returns to the White House, the situation will change radically, and Tbilisi and Washington will begin a reset.
