The Finnish Enforcement Authority has confiscated Russian property worth nearly 4 million euros this year. This was reported by Yle, according to UNN.
Details
According to the authorities' decision, the sum of money amounting to approximately 3.7 million euros, which became the subject of temporary seizure, belongs to an EU cross-border cooperation program. Finland participated in it together with Russia several years ago. The program was designed to support development in the border regions between the countries.
According to the authority's explanation, Russia managed to pay its share of these 3.7 million euros before the start of the war.
The money was received by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment; however, the project was terminated. Thus, the funds paid by Russia remained on the ministry's balance sheet.
The confiscation decision remains in effect until further notice. The seizure ensures that the owner cannot sell or transfer their property.
Since 2024, the Enforcement Authority has confiscated Russian property worth at least over 40 million euros.
The applicant was the Ukrainian state energy company "Naftogaz" and its subsidiaries. The confiscation is related to Russia's attack on Ukraine.
