More than 1,000 miners have been trapped underground in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovs'k regions after Russian attacks damaged energy facilities, causing widespread power outages in many parts of Ukraine.

As a result of today's large-scale attack by the Russian army, a number of mines in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovs'k regions lost power, and more than a thousand miners are underground, the Ministry of Energy reported, UNN reports.

A number of mines in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovs'k regions are without power. More than 1,000 people are underground. There is no threat to life

- the Ministry of Energy said in a statement.

Reportedly, hostile attacks have damaged energy facilities, particularly in Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Khmelnytsky, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, Dnipro, and Kharkiv regions. The attack resulted in emergency power outages in these regions.

During the attack on one of the facilities in Kharkiv, an employee of the energy facility , a shift supervisor, was wounded.

As for the situation at the DniproHES, the Ministry of Energy said it was under control. "There is no threat of a dam breach. However, the facility has been damaged," the Energy Ministry added.

Due to the main line outage, Zaporizhzhia NPP is powered by a single 330 kV line. ZNPP is one step away from blackout again.

The water level in the cooling pond is 15.52 meters. This is enough to meet the needs of the plant, the Ministry of Energy assured.

The agency pointed out that due to the emergency shutdown of several units of thermal power plants and hydroelectric power plants, there is a certain decrease in electricity production. To cover the needs of consumers, emergency electricity supplies from neighboring countries - Romania, Slovakia and Poland - are being used. Commercial electricity imports are also planned.
