Reportedly, coal miners were able to restore and exceed pre-war levels at the end of 2023. In January 2024, production volumes amounted to more than 178 thousand tons per month, and in February this figure exceeded 194 thousand tons.
The growth in coal production at state-owned enterprises has also increased the amount of solid fuel in the warehouses of energy companies, the Energy Ministry said. In particular, as of the end of February, TPPs and CHPPs had accumulated more than 1 million tons of coal, which is 236 thousand tons more than planned.
The ministry emphasized that further growth in coal production is expected in the future. For this purpose, in particular, a coal mining longwall located 7 km from the front line has recently been put into operation at a mine in Donetsk region.
