Russia's average daily losses in killed and wounded in the war in Ukraine have decreased over the past two months, from a high of more than 1,262 people per day in May to 1,140 in July. However, the last three months have been the "most expensive" for Russian forces since February 2022. This is stated in an intelligence report released by the British Ministry of Defense, UNN reports.

Details

"Average daily Russian casualties (killed and wounded) in Ukraine have decreased over the past two months from the peak of the conflict, which was more than 1,262 people per day in May, to 1,140 in July 2024. Despite this decline, the last three months have been the "most expensive" for Russian forces since February 2022," the report says.

It is reported that the decrease in the daily average is likely to indicate that Russian forces are "consolidating their positions in the Kharkiv direction.

"While this new approach has increased pressure at the front, effective Ukrainian defenses and a lack of Russian training have reduced Russia's ability to leverage any tactical successes into broader operational gains," the report said.

British analysts predict that Russian troop casualties in August are likely to average more than 1,000 per day as Russia continues its offensive on a broad front from Kharkiv in the north to Robotyn in Zaporizhzhia region in southern Ukraine.
