At the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant, debris is being removed and equipment is being assessed after the Russian attack on March 22.

After the Russian attack on March 22, the rubble at the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant continues to be dismantled, and experts are assessing the condition of the equipment. This was stated on Radio Liberty by Svitlana Hrynchuk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, UNN reports.

The official pointed out that Russian forces are currently targeting energy facilities as the main target for attacks.

As for the damage to DniproHES, we are still clearing the debris and assessing the condition of the equipment. The equipment that is repairable and can be repaired quickly is being repaired. We are looking for a replacement for the equipment that has suffered significant damage and will try to repair it as soon as possible. However, we have to understand that the enemy's goal now, as we can see, is energy as the No. 1 target. Therefore, we must be prepared for different scenarios

- Hrynchuk said.

The Deputy Minister also said that the energy sector is doing everything possible to protect energy facilities and restore damaged ones. However, effective protection requires strengthening air defense.

"On our part, we are doing everything we can. This includes repairs and possible protection of our energy facilities. Of course, we need to strengthen air defense, as there is no better defense than air defense, including for energy facilities. But in the complex: air defense, physical protection that we have built and are building for our facilities - all this together, we hope, will allow us to protect our facilities," said Hrynchuk.
