In the Kyiv region, law enforcement officers uncovered a scheme involving the illegal issuance of mobilization deferments through private educational institutions. Men of conscription age were fictitiously employed as teachers for $10,000. This was reported by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko, according to UNN.

"In the Kyiv region, a scheme involving the illegal issuance of deferments through private educational institutions was uncovered. About 50 children studied at four lyceums. At the same time, more than 165 teachers were employed there, 150 of whom were men of conscription age," Kravchenko said in a post.
According to the investigation, the men were fictitiously employed as teachers, but in fact they did not conduct lessons and did not even appear at the educational institutions.
"This kind of "employment" cost $10,000. An additional $1,000 had to be paid every month, allegedly including to cover taxes. The scheme was simple: a certificate from the lyceum, an application to the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center, and a deferment from mobilization. While some Ukrainians are defending the state, others are trying to buy the opportunity to remain on the sidelines. And the organizers of such schemes are profiting from the war," the post says.
Five participants in the scheme, including directors of private educational institutions, were notified of suspicion of obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed by a group of persons acting in prior collusion. They were detained. Another 21 men were notified of suspicion of evading conscription during mobilization.
Law enforcement officers are currently establishing the identities of other individuals who may have illegally obtained deferments.
"During the searches, documents, computer equipment, telephones, handwritten notes, and cash were seized. At just one of the addresses, $52,850 and €10,000 were found. Education cannot serve as a cover for evading service. Both those who create such schemes and those who knowingly use them must be held accountable," Kravchenko said.
