88 battles have taken place at the front since the beginning of the day, the Defense Forces are taking measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory. The operation in the Kursk region continues, Ukrainian soldiers have repelled 29 enemy attacks today, and up to 4 more clashes are ongoing, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported in a report as of 4 p.m. on December 17, UNN writes.
Ukraine's defense forces are holding back the Russian invaders' offensive. Terrorists continue to kill Ukrainians and destroy Ukrainian cities and villages with missile, air and artillery strikes. The number of military clashes has increased to 88 so far. Defense forces take measures to prevent the enemy from advancing deep into Ukrainian territory
Today, the communities of Vintorivka, Petrushivka, Novodmitrivka, Popivka, Novodmitrivka in Sumy region; Vidrodzhenivske in Kharkiv region; and Mykhalchyna Sloboda in Chernihiv region suffered from enemy artillery and mortar fire.
The situation in these areas is as follows:
In the Kharkiv sector, the enemy launched air strikes with unguided missiles near the village of Vovchansky Khutory.
In the Kupyansk direction, Russian occupants attack the Defense Forces in the area of Lozova.
In the Lyman sector, the invading army carried out seven attacks on Ukrainian positions near Vyshneve, Tverdokhlibove, Zelenyi Hai, Terny and in Serebryany Forest. Five of the attacks are still ongoing.
In the Siversky direction, the enemy is attacking the areas of Bilohorivka, Siversk and Verkhnekamianske. Two of the eight enemy attacks were repelled and fighting continues.
The Kramatorsk sector was attacked in the areas of Chasovyi Yar and Stupochky, and three attempts by Russians to push our defenders from their positions failed. At the same time, the enemy dropped six guided aerial bombs near Pazeno and Vasyukivka.
On the Toretsk direction, the enemy is trying to break into our defense near Toretsk, three enemy attacks continue, and our defenders successfully repelled one attack.
In the Pokrovsk sector, since the beginning of the day, Russian invaders have made 13 attempts to push our defenders from their positions in the areas of Myroliubivka, Promen, Lysivka, Dachanske, Novyi Trud, Novooleksiyivka, Pishchane, Novooleksandrivka and Novoolezavetivka. The defense forces are holding back the attack and repelled six enemy attacks, and seven combat engagements are still ongoing.
In the Kurakhove sector, the enemy army attacked 15 times near the settlements of Sontsivka, Stari Terny, Kurakhove and Yantarne. Nine attempts by the occupiers to advance have already been repelled.
In the Vremivsky sector, five hostile attacks took place near Kostiantynopolske, Sukhi Yaly, Storozhove, Novosilka and Novodarivka. One firefight is still ongoing.
The enemy did not conduct any active hostilities in the Gulyaypilsky sector today.
Two firefights took place in the areas of Novoandriivka and Novodanylivka in the Orikhiv sector.
The enemy also attacked our defenders on the Prydniprovsky direction without success, despite the use of attack aircraft.
"The operation in the Kursk region continues. Since the beginning of the day, Russian planes have launched three strikes with five anti-aircraft missiles. Ukrainian soldiers have repelled 29 enemy attacks so far, and four combat engagements are still ongoing," the General Staff said.
