In Uman, a 19-year-old student is suspected of fatally stabbing his peer in a dormitory on the grounds of jealousy. The attacker also wounded a fellow student who tried to stop him. The court was asked to consider compulsory medical measures.

A 19-year-old man is suspected of having stabbed his peer to death in a dormitory in Uman, Cherkasy region, on the grounds of jealousy, a petition for the application of compulsory medical measures against him has been sent to the court, the Cherkasy Regional Prosecutor's Office reported, UNN reports.

"A petition for the application of compulsory medical measures against a resident of Zaporizhzhia on the facts of causing intentional grievous bodily harm and murder (Part 1 of Article 115, Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code) has been sent to the court," the prosecutor's office said.

According to the investigation, "the 19-year-old offender, being in a student dormitory of a university in Uman, provoked a conflict with his peer student on the grounds of jealousy, during which stabbed multiple times in different parts of the body." The victim died from his injuries at the scene before doctors arrived.

The deceased's fellow student, while trying to stop the attacker's illegal actions, also received two stabs to the stomach and chest, which caused serious bodily harm.

"The attacker was detained by law enforcement officers after committing the crime and the court imposed a preventive measure in the form of detention, which was later changed to placement in a medical institution in conditions that exclude his dangerous behavior on the basis of psychiatric examination," the prosecutor's office said.
