The President also awarded the military rank of Brigadier General to Colonel Valentyn Viktorovych Ostryzhny, the director of the personnel department of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine.

March 26 is the Day of the National Guard of Ukraine. The holiday, which is dedicated to the merits of the National Guard of Ukraine in protecting the sovereignty of Ukraine, its territorial integrity, life, legitimate rights and freedoms of citizens, was introduced on October 28, 1993 by a decree of the President of Ukraine and abolished in connection with the disbandment of the National Guard of Ukraine on February 11, 200. The holiday was re-introduced only in 2015.
