The scheme's organizer and a former deputy unit commander resold spare parts worth 350 million UAH back to the state. The property had been written off as destroyed by Russian shelling.

Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, under the procedural guidance of a prosecutor from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, have served a notice of suspicion to the organizer of a criminal scheme for the embezzlement of military property and a former deputy commander of a military unit in the Kharkiv region. This was reported by UNN with reference to the press service of the SAPO.

Details

According to the investigation, a group of companies and individual entrepreneurs supplied spare parts for armored vehicles worth over 350 million hryvnias to state defense enterprises. In fact, the group is controlled by two individuals, the SAPO reported.

The investigation also found that part of the property actually already belonged to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was stored in the warehouses of a military unit in the Kharkiv region.

At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, these spare parts were illegally written off, being documented as destroyed as a result of Russian missile and bomb strikes. In reality, the scarce products were removed from the unit's territory and subsequently resold to the state,

 - the statement reads.

The suspect who facilitated the implementation of the criminal plan is a former deputy commander of the military unit, who systematically ignored his duties regarding the accounting and preservation of the property entrusted to him.

For such loyalty, he received at least 2.8 million hryvnias in unlawful benefits from the scheme's organizer—the businessman directly paid for household equipment, expensive construction materials, and other goods for the military officer,

 - the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported.

The organizer of the scheme was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 369 (offering an unlawful benefit) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. At the same time, the former deputy commander was served a notice of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 27, Part 4 of Art. 410 (theft of military property), Part 4 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an unlawful benefit), and Art. 366-3 (failure to declare) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanctions of these articles provide for long-term imprisonment.
