Ukraine is implementing the principles of gender equality in its army using Western and NATO experience, including the introduction of gender-sensitive language, creating conditions for women in leadership and combat positions, and conducting gender equality training for all personnel.

In implementing gender policy, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use Western experience and cooperate with NATO countries. Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Natalia Kalmykova said this at a meeting with Marisa Kemper, head of the Canadian government's PROTECT2 project, UNN reports, citing the Ministry of Defense.

Ukraine has taken significant steps to implement the principles of gender equality in the army. We are introducing new rules on the use of gender-sensitive language and working to create conditions for women's realization in the army, in particular, in leadership and combat positions. We will continue to use the best Western practices to implement gender policy in the army

- she noted.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the exchange of practical experience between NATO countries and Ukraine, the implementation of joint projects, and professional expertise in human capital policy.

Canada is actively implementing career development strategies for young leaders in the armed forces. A similar approach could be very useful for Ukraine. We are ready to provide expert support in this area

- said Marisa Kemper.

The meeting participants also discussed the development of tools for gender integration in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, including gender equality trainings for all military personnel.

The Ministry of Defense added that the PROTECT2 program has already trained 200 gender advisors in the defense sector and is actively working to integrate gender equality into strategic documents of the defense sector.
