On Monday, April 16, the official opening ceremony of the Embassy of Ukraine took place in Gaborone, Republic of Botswana . This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The Embassy was opened by the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Botswana Lemogang Kwape.
I am convinced that the establishment of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Gaborone will allow us to establish unimpeded and effective cooperation between our countries, to coordinate positions on important initiatives within the UN and other international organizations
The Botswana Minister also emphasized the importance of opening a diplomatic mission of Ukraine in Botswana, which will help to give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest.
Lemogang Kwape received a personal message from the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba and an invitation to join the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The parties paid special attention to preparations for the inaugural Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, in which the Botswana side was invited to participate

During his visit to Botswana, the Special Representative also met with Angela Ntumba, Deputy Executive Secretary for Regional Integration of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). The parties discussed ways to intensify cooperation between Ukraine and this regional organization, which unites 16 Southern African states and whose secretariat is located in the capital of Botswana.
Participants of the meeting agreed that the accreditation of Ukraine's representative to SADC in April 23 and the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in Botswana will contribute to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and SADC and its member states.

Earlier, on April 10, the Embassy of Ukraine was opened in a city of the Democratic Republic of Congo with the participation of Ukraine's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh .
