Ukraine is firmly convinced that all six negotiation clusters for EU accession should be opened in June, Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha told journalists, UNN reports.
"We proceed from the premise that the clusters should be formally opened in June. This is our firm position. I believe we have the support of our European partners. And it is very important that this happens. Because this is not only about Ukraine, but also about the interests of Europe,"
"We believe that the main political obstacle in the form of the Orban government has been removed following the elections in Hungary, and we have indeed reached a state of affairs where diplomacy should and can do its job," the Foreign Minister believes. "I believe in this, and today's meeting with Anita (Anikó Raisz/Hungarian official - note: context implies Hungarian representation) has further strengthened my conviction."
"Yes, all six clusters — we believe we have every reason to frame it this way and voice our position. You know that we received the benchmarks in advance, back last year; we have worked on them actively, we have achieved the corresponding progress, and we believe it is fair that they should be evaluated in accordance with European practice, and the evaluation by the EU, the European side, is the formal opening of the six clusters," Sybiha indicated.
