Minister of Social Policy Denys Ulyutin and European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration Magnus Brunner discussed the coordination of policies regarding Ukrainians in the EU, specifically the potential conclusion of the temporary protection regime after March 2027. This was reported by the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity of Ukraine, according to UNN.

The meeting took place during a working visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the USA. During the negotiations, the parties focused on the issue of the future status of Ukrainians residing in European Union countries due to the war.
Ulyutin emphasized that it is important for Ukraine to avoid legal uncertainty and differing approaches regarding Ukrainians in EU countries after the temporary protection mechanism expires.
"Our position is clear: we want Ukrainians to return home, but this must be a voluntary and conscious decision. The key factor for making such a decision remains security, which depends on the situation on the ground and on our Armed Forces,"
According to him, Ukrainians must have "clear, predictable, and legal opportunities" to remain in the EU until conditions for their return are established.
Separately, the parties discussed the issue of obtaining data on Ukrainians under temporary protection in EU countries, particularly regarding vulnerable categories of the population.
The Ministry noted that this information is necessary for further planning of the citizen return policy and the preparation of communities in Ukraine.
The meeting also addressed legal migration, the integration of Ukrainians into the labor market, the preservation of Ukraine's human capital, and the operation of Unity Hubs abroad.
Ulyutin reported that the first Unity Hub in Berlin is already demonstrating high demand among Ukrainians. During its first two weeks of operation, the center provided nearly 500 consultations to Ukrainian citizens.
