Ukraine and Japan today, April 9, signed an agreement for $58 million for the emergency recovery of Ukrainian territory. The funds will be used for demining, energy and infrastructure. This is reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, writes UNN.

The agreement was signed by the Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine Oleksiy Kuleba and the head of the office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Ukraine Hideki Matsunaga. It makes it possible to officially start the implementation of the fourth phase of the Emergency Recovery Program of Ukraine.
This is a program that the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development is implementing jointly with JICA. Three phases have already been implemented, within which a rapid response to the needs of the energy, transport, agricultural, medical, educational sectors, waste management from destruction, water disposal, water supply, humanitarian demining was carried out. Equipment is also provided for communal institutions of cities and regions.
At the expense of new funds within the framework of the Emergency Recovery Program, critical assistance will be provided in a number of areas, in particular humanitarian demining, energy, water supply, infrastructure restoration. I hope for further strengthening and deepening of our partnership
The Minister added that since the beginning of the war, Japan has provided Ukraine with $12 billion in humanitarian and financial assistance. The Ministry of Development has implemented joint Ukrainian-Japanese projects worth about $700 million in total.
