Details

Law enforcement officers note that using his official position and access to departmental databases, the serviceman offered to help men of conscription age avoid mobilization. In exchange for money, the defendant promised to remove from the databases information about the fact of serving a call-up and failure to report to the military commissariat. He estimated his service at 20-40 thousand hryvnias.

In order to remain undetected, the bribe-taker invented his own corruption scheme. The evaders would go to the store to pay for the goods chosen by the offender, including building materials, and then hand him a check and a bill of lading. With these proofs of payment, the offender would either freely take the goods or return the money for them.

The law enforcement detained the dealer in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The staff sergeant was served a notice of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an unlawful benefit by an official). He could spend up to 10 years in prison for his actions.
