The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is radically changing its approach to housing for military personnel and their families. The Main Directorate of Capital Investments of the department has developed a draft Concept of the State Targeted Program for Housing for Servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Persons Dismissed from Military Service. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense, writes UNN.

Details

The concept was developed in pursuance of the Decree of the President of Ukraine of September 17, 2021 No. 473/2021 "On the Decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine of August 20, 2021 "On the Strategic Defense Bulletin of Ukraine." The provisions are planned to be implemented within three years after its approval by the Cabinet of Ministers.

It is noted that the document has passed internal approval and submitted for consideration to the central executive authorities. Currently, its public discussion is underway.

We strive to create a transparent and effective system that takes into account the needs of different categories of military personnel, and primarily - combatants, families of the deceased, seriously wounded, discharged from military service

- said Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Brigadier General of Justice Serhiy Melnyk.

He also added that at the same time, preparations are being completed for the digitalization of the process of apartment accounting of military personnel. This will make the procedures more transparent and efficient, and will also ensure control over the use of the housing stock.

As part of this work, an Algorithm for excluding official housing from the relevant fund of the Ministry of Defense has also been developed and approved. This will allow thousands of military families who currently live in official housing to obtain the right to permanent residence in it

- said the deputy minister.
