German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that the main focus of the Bundeswehr reform will be to reduce bureaucracy in procurement, planning and infrastructure expansion. Pistorius said in an interview with Welt, writes UNN.
One thing is clearly stated in the agreement, and this is a very clear and important signal to our European partners and NATO allies - Germany is making changes. According to the coalition agreement, we are setting a course for a strong Bundeswehr.
Pistorius also added that the situation in the world is changing dramatically. Germany must be able to defend itself in the shortest possible time.
This is extremely important for our security in Germany and Europe. No one can ignore the fact that we are at the beginning of a new era and we will have to strengthen ourselves in the coming years. We need to become capable of deterrence and defense in the shortest possible time," - said the Minister of Defense
Pomadovets also emphasized that the main goal that the Bundeswehr is currently setting for itself is to reduce bureaucracy.

The new German government plans to update military service on a voluntary basis. The issue of compulsory conscription remains open for the time being, but a registration system will be introduced.
"We are creating a new, attractive form of military service, which will initially be based on voluntary service. The criteria of attractiveness, significance and contribution to growth potential are the basis of the new design of this service," the text reads.
