According to the Commander-in-Chief, he inspected the organization of combat operations at the command post, as well as the combat crews of anti-aircraft missile and artillery systems performing tasks to protect Ukrainian airspace.
Syrskyi heard reports from the Commander of the Air Command "South," Brigadier General Oleksandr Humeniuk, and other officials regarding the current situation, the specifics of Russian troop actions, and the state of the air defense system.
Particular attention, according to him, was paid to issues of coordination between all components of the Defense Forces, the speed of information exchange, and the adaptation of the air defense system to the new tactics of Russia's mass attacks.
"The enemy continues targeted attacks on the port infrastructure of southern Ukraine — ports, grain terminals, maritime logistics facilities, and other civilian infrastructure. The enemy's goal is to disrupt the operation of the maritime corridor, strike the state's economy, and create additional security threats in the Black Sea region," Syrskyi noted.
He emphasized that the task of the Ukrainian military is to prevent the realization of these plans.
Separately, during the meeting, they discussed the work of mobile fire groups, short-range air defense units, and tactical groups for intercepting enemy drones.
"In current conditions, it is precisely the flexibility of command, timely maneuvering of forces, and scaling of modern solutions in the field of combating strike drones that are among the key factors of effectiveness," the Commander-in-Chief stressed.
Following the trip, Syrskyi issued a series of orders regarding the improvement of the air defense management system, the development of aerial target detection means, the expansion of the use of tactical interception groups, and the acceleration of the implementation of new technologies to counter air attacks.
At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief acknowledged that Ukraine is still operating under a shortage of modern air defense systems and missiles for them.
"That is why the rational use of available resources, increasing the efficiency of every air defense element, and the further acquisition of modern anti-aircraft systems and ammunition from partners are extremely important," Syrskyi stated.
He added that an effective air defense system today is critically important for protecting the population, the stable operation of the economy, and the functioning of the state's critical infrastructure.
