Hungary has canceled the deportation and three-year entry ban for seven Oschadbank employees. Ukraine's Foreign Minister called this decision a long-awaited step.

Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha thanked the Hungarian side for overturning the decision on deportation and the three-year ban on entry and stay in the Schengen area regarding all seven Oschadbank employees detained in March of this year. This was reported by UNN with reference to Sybiha's post on social media.

The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called Hungary's decision a "long-awaited step that once again draws a clear line between the former and current governments."

"This is also a line between lawlessness and the rule of law. I thank my colleague Anita Orbán for Hungary's position, which creates a proper and constructive atmosphere ahead of the upcoming expert-level consultations. We are preparing for them and look forward to a productive meeting,"

– Sybiha wrote.

Context

Oschadbank reported the groundless detention of two armored cash-in-transit vehicles and the disappearance of seven employees in Hungary on March 5.

Oschadbank noted that the total volume of valuables held in the two armored vehicles amounted to 40 million US dollars, 35 million euros, and 9 kg of banking gold.

As a reminder

In early May, Hungary returned to Ukraine the funds and valuables of Oschadbank that had been seized by Hungarian special services in March of this year.
