The Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court upheld the decision of the High Council of Justice to dismiss Vsevolod Knyazev from the post of Supreme Court judge, the Supreme Court reported on Thursday, UNN reports.

As indicated, on July 18, 2024, the High Council of Justice issued a decision upholding the decision of the First Disciplinary Chamber of the HCJ of June 17, 2024, to bring Knyazev to disciplinary responsibility and impose a disciplinary sanction in the form of a motion to dismiss him from the position of a judge of the Supreme Court.
On August 15, 2024, Knyazev appealed this HCJ decision to the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court.
"Following consideration of the cassation appeal, today, on December 12, 2024, the Grand Chamber of the Supreme Court decided to uphold the decision of the HCJ of July 18, 2024, to bring Knyazev to disciplinary responsibility and dismiss him from the post of Supreme Court judge," the statement said.

Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Vsevolod Kniazev is involved in a bribery case. According to NABU , the money was provided by the owner of the Finance and Credit group for a decision in his favor. In order to prevent the loss of shares, in early March 2023, the businessman, according to NABU, conspired with a lawyer who had ties to the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. During March-April 2023, he transferred $2.7 million to the lawyer ($1.8 million to the head and judges of the Supreme Court, the rest as "payment" for intermediary services), NABU reported.
On May 15, 2023, while receiving the second tranche of $450,000, the then Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and a lawyer were caught red-handed. The next day they were notified of suspicion. The case has now been referred to court.
