The Slovak parliament did not vote to condemn the russian attack on Okhmatdyt in Kyiv on July 8, as only 41 MPs supported the inclusion of the resolution on the agenda, but this was not enough to pass the resolution. Thus, the parliamentarians did not proceed to consider the resolution.

The resolution was initiated by Beata Jurík, a member of the opposition Progressive Slovakia party, who proposed adding it to the agenda.

On July 8, russia massively attacked Ukraine, including the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district. A rocket hit the toxicology ward with seriously ill children.

In a phone conversation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico condemned the attack and offered to accept Okhmatdyt patients for treatment.
