Serhiy Byzov won the election for Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine

At the IX Congress of the FPU in Kyiv, Serhiy Byzov was re-elected as the head of the organization. His candidacy was supported by 280 delegates during an open vote.

The current head of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine, Serhiy Byzov, has been elected head of the FTUU for a second term following an open vote by representatives of the trade union movement, an UNN correspondent reports.

The IX Congress of the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine took place in Kyiv today, where delegates elected the FTUU chairperson. The current head of the Federation, Serhiy Byzov, was chosen.

The voting was conducted openly—201 delegates voted in favor of this procedure, 86 were against, and 2 abstained.

Serhiy Byzov's candidacy was supported by 280 delegates, with 20 against and 45 abstentions.

39 delegates of the congress cast their votes in support of the other candidate, Pavlo Prudnikov.

"Our main tasks are to preserve unity. Only through joint decisions, joint actions, and coordination will we strengthen the trade unions. We must organize ourselves and become subjects. And to become subjects, we must have representation," Serhiy Byzov emphasized in his speech.

The FTUU head's plans include, in particular, strengthening cooperation with the Verkhovna Rada and enhancing the role of trade unions in decision-making regarding workers' rights.

As a reminder

In total, three candidates were nominated by the trade union movement: Serhiy Byzov, Deputy Chairman of the Atomprofspilka (Nuclear Power Workers' Union) Pavlo Prudnikov, and former MP Serhiy Kaplin. Byzov's candidacy was nominated by 22 trade unions and 19 territorial trade union associations.

Prudnikov was nominated by 4 trade unions, and Kaplin by 1. The Statutory Commission admitted Byzov and Prudnikov to the elections. Kaplin was disqualified due to non-compliance of his documents.
