Law enforcement officials suspect that two entrepreneurs, with the help of officials of the Dnipro City Council , could have set up a large-scale scheme to misappropriate public funds by overstating the cost of work and goods. This was stated by the National Police of Ukraine, UNN reports.

Today, operatives of the Department of Strategic Investigations and investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police under the procedural supervision of the Prosecutor General's Office conducted investigative actions at the premises of the Dnipro City Council, commercial offices and at the suspects' residences.
This confirms information from UNN sources . Earlier it was reported about searches in the premises of the Dnipro RSA, Dnipro City Council, offices and residences of the defendants.
The police believe that, having connections among officials of the Dnipro City Council, the defendants' companies received an advantage when participating in public procurement for the works. The main customers of the services were utility companies.
For example, in 2023, the suspects received a contract for work on the Auly-Verkhniodniprovsk water pipeline worth more than UAH 350 million. To implement the project, the defendants purchased water pipes at inflated prices above market prices. This increase in the cost of materials was achieved through the resale of goods from one controlled company to another. As a result, the contractor company, according to the documents, purchased construction materials at inflated prices
Expert investigations are currently establishing the damage caused during the work on the water pipeline. The full range of allegedly involved persons from among the executive authorities is also being established.
