The Kremlin spokesman stated a desire for lasting peace instead of a truce. According to him, ending the war depends on Volodymyr Zelenskyy's decision.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Russia does not want a truce, but rather a "stable, lasting" peace, and therefore everything depends on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Peskov made this statement in a comment to Russian media, as reported by UNN

It (the truce) has a humanitarian character. It is a holiday for our country. Also for Ukraine, for Ukrainians, for the Ukrainian people. Therefore, it has a humanitarian character. This is first. Secondly, as we have repeatedly said, as President Putin said, we do not want a truce, we want peace. A strong, lasting peace. This peace can come today. If Zelenskyy makes the appropriate decision

- said Peskov.
