Zelenskyy urged the West not to weaken sanctions against Russia. Moscow may demand the removal of SWIFT restrictions in exchange for a cease- fire.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on the US and Europe to maintain sanctions against Russia and not to give in to Moscow's attempts to weaken them, as he stated in an interview with Bloomberg, UNN reports.

Details

"I think that Russia may raise the issue of a ceasefire in exchange for lifting sanctions on certain enterprises," Zelenskyy said.

"I know they are raising the issue of lifting sanctions on SWIFT so that their banks can operate. For Ukraine, all of this is a great risk," the President noted.

Reminder

Zelenskyy commented on statements regarding a possible short-term truce around May 9. He pointed out that "we have not received any official or unofficial proposals from either Moscow or Washington."

The President emphasized that Ukraine first clarifies the details of such initiatives through diplomatic channels.
