The rapid melting of snow and the rise in the water level of the Tysa River led to the erosion of a support of the main gas pipeline near the village of Hetynia, Berehove district, Zakarpattia. Due to the significant tilt of the structure, almost 5,800 subscribers are at risk of disconnection, so an operational headquarters has been deployed in the region to prevent a large-scale accident. This was reported by the head of the Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration, Myroslav Biletskyi, writes UNN.

Details

Currently, specialists are working to secure the pipe to buy time for major repairs. To ensure access for special equipment to the emergency support, a special embankment is being built across the Tysa. On the instructions of the head of the Zakarpattia Regional Military Administration, Myroslav Biletskyi, several options for solving the problem are being considered: from installing a temporary jumper to complex drilling of a new line directly under the riverbed.

Priority #1 is to secure the pipe and buy time for repairs. Relevant services are already building an embankment across the Tysa so that special equipment can reach the support

— reported the regional administration.

Rescuers, gas workers, and representatives of local communities of the Pyiterfolvivska UTC are involved in the work.

To minimize the consequences of a possible gas supply interruption, energy workers canceled electricity outage schedules for 17 settlements in the risk zone. This will allow residents to use electrical appliances for heating and cooking. Oblenergo has already increased the number of emergency brigades in the Berehove district for prompt response to peak loads in the network.

The authorities and residents of the villages, including Diakovo, Velyka Palad, and Sasovo, are urged to prepare alternative heating sources and liquefied gas reserves. Currently, the situation remains under control, and gas supply to consumers continues as usual until the main phase of repair work begins.
