Pakistani planes have carried out air strikes in Khost and Paktika provinces in eastern Afghanistan. This was confirmed by Bloomberg's sources in the Pakistani government.
According to Afghan Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, five women and three children were killed in the strikes.
Context
Two days earlier, a suicide bomber rammed a truck packed with explosives into a military post in northwestern Pakistan. Seven soldiers were killed.
Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have increased since the Taliban came to power in 2021. Pakistan has repeatedly stated that the Taliban offshoot known as the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistanhas threatened to overthrow the government and is currently hiding in Afghanistan.
