OSINT analysts discovered this by studying satellite imagery of the Moscow region and neighboring oblasts. We came across the first tower of the new "ring" as early as February 16, when we managed to geolocate a photo of an air defense missile trail near Kashira.
Currently, the number of air defense systems surrounding the Russian capital since 2023 has exceeded 100 units, according to an interactive map by Radio Liberty.
At the same time, as Radio Liberty found out, shortly before May 9, Putin's residence in Valdai was blurred out on Yandex Maps. Previously, Yandex only blurred military facilities and defense industry enterprises on its satellite maps.
