The first set of awards in artistic gymnastics were presented at the 2024 Olympics. The final was held in the men's team all-around with the participation of the Ukrainian national team.
In the qualification, the five of Oleg Vernyaev, Ilya Kovtun, Igor Radivilov, Nazar Chepurny and Radomir Stelmakh took fourth place with a score of 253.893 points, and the blue and yellow gymnasts qualified for five individual finals.
How did the Ukrainians perform in the final?
The first projectile for Ukraine was the pommel horse, where Oleg Verniaiev's performance was the best in the team with 14.833 points. Radomir Stelmakh and Ilya Kovtun also reached the 14-point mark, putting Ukraine in fourth place in the standings following the start rotation.
In the second rotation, the Ukrainians competed on the rings, where Igor Radivilov scored the most points with 14,000.
In the vault, Nazar Chepurny, the winner of the qualification in the discipline, scored 14.900 points. Oleg Vernyaev and Igor Radivilov also scored over 14 points for their performances.
Ilya Kovtun's performance on the parallel bars was the best in the all-around for Ukraine, with 15.433 points. With Verniaiev's 15-point performance, the discipline was the most productive for the Blue and Yellows in this year's final.
In the penultimate rotation, Verniayev limited himself to 12.800 points on the bar. The reigning European champion Kovtun became the leader in the discipline for the second time with 14.033.
Before the final rotation, Ukraine was ranked intermediate fourth in the standings. Kovtun's 14.100 on floor exercise summed up the blue and yellows' performance in the final with a total of 254.761 points.
After the final performances of the remaining gymnasts, Ukraine's score was enough to take fifth place in the final. The finalists from Japan, China, and the United States took the podium, and the British team was also ahead of the blue and yellows.
